Track abstract - Room G1 - Developer effectiveness

Fearless Improvement: How to take one step at a time

When you want to cross difficult terrain, you want to make sure that one foot is stable before you move the other. So also with software development. When practicing an incremental approach to design and architecture, I often find the need to change a simple design into a more advanced one. In the first part of the talk, I will demonstrate how practice helps me find safe ways to execute this change. We are faced with similar challenges at the product level. In the second part of the talk, I will demonstrate how the same principles allow a software project to release frequently, even in the face of lots of historical baggage.
