Rik Arends is co-founder of Javeline, the organization behind Ajax.org and pushing the limits for online application development. As a C++ developer with over 15 years of experience in 3D, computer vision and video, Rik has developed software engines behind browser based video mixing, large stage projections and multitouch tabletop computing used by Coca Cola, Nokia and Tiesto. Well versed in declarative techniques as well as having a strong focus on performance and pushing the boundaries, Rik has a unique perspective on the web environment from both JavaScript and C++ angles.

Introducing Ajax.org Platform and how to build collaborative applications
With Google Wave, the spotlight has turned to developing applications that allow people to work together in real-time. However, when building a real application, a developer faces many problems he has to solve.
Ajax.org platform is an open source JavaScript toolkit that enables the easy development of collaborative applications.
In this presentation we will start with the basics and present the systems and structures that can be used to build a collaborative application running entirely in the browser and using the advanced widgets and vector graphics capabilities of Ajax.org Platform. The systems presented can be extended into a complex collaborative enterprise application, and solve many advanced issues.
